Occupational Therapy

As part of our complete rehabilitation effort, we provide Occupational Therapy to many of our residents. 

Some people who benefit from Occupational Therapy include those who:

  • Are recovering from stroke or other neurologically based dysfunctions
  • Have orthopedic conditions, including arthritis and hip fracture
  • Have symptoms of multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's Disease
  • Have limitations in their ability to carry out self-care activities
  • Have strength or endurance risks 
  • Will benefit from special adaptive equipment to aid in reaching a maximum level of independence

 

Our Occupational Therapy program is goal-oriented, and aims to help individuals adapt and reach their maximum level of independence.

 Examples of Occupational Therapy services include:

  • Education and training in daily living skills such as dressing, bathing, eating, and grooming
  • Sensorimotor treatments for strengthening, endurance, range of motion, coordination, and balance
  • Therapeutic activities for memory, orientation, cognitive integration, and other daily life skills
  • Perceptual testing and training to maximize functional abilities
  • Fabrication of splints to provide proper positioning, control spasticity, and reduce edema or pain
  • Recommendations for adaptive equipment to increase functional abilities during activities of daily living
