“When I came to the Altoona nursing care I left the Altoona Hospital. At that time, they had already given me my rites once, said I wouldn’t make it through the night. Then I was here, I believe it was three or four days, and they had got in touch with my lung specialist, which they still didn’t think I was going to make it. I was so afraid when I woke up because I couldn’t move my hands at all. When physical therapy came the first time I asked them if I would ever walk again. And they said it isn’t if you’re going to walk again, it’s when you’re going to walk again. And she told me that the best part of it would rely on me. I had to have the willpower, put all my effort into it, and I did. And I did walk again. I've been home now for two weeks, I’m walking without my walker, and I’m doing real good. Real good. Between the nurses and the CNA and the physical therapy they got me back on my feet and they kept my spirits up all the time. We had a good conversation and they’re always behind you. They always help whatever you needed. I would like to say, if you need the help, this is definitely the place to come to, Altoona, the nursing center here. Because they do care, that would be my main thing, they do care about you.”
“I chose the Altoona Nursing Care Center for Jimmy because it was close for me since I live at the I Town and I can come down every day and see him. The Altoona Nursing Care Center has helped Jimmy be on his own and do things when I’m not around him, and he does a lot of crafts and that, and it’s good for him. The physical therapy at the Altoona Nursing Care Center has helped him a lot because he couldn’t walk there for a while and he was getting awful nervous and couldn’t stand up. Now that he’s in physical therapy again he goes in every once in a while and it has helped him a lot. The best thing that the Altoona Care Center is that it’s good care and it’s clean and that way they have a lot of activities and they take them out to restaurants to eat, that’s what I like. I’m satisfied with the care they give him and I’m satisfied with the way it’s really clean here and they treat him right and they treat me right.”
