Altoona Center for Nursing Care — conveniently located in Downtown Altoona — is a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Center. The first floor houses a Rehabilitation Unit, complete with physical, occupational, and speech-language therapies.
The Center for Nursing Care has about 140 attending physicians, who are credentialed following guidelines for long-term care. Another 20 consulting physicians are available. We employ two case managers, a director of nursing, and an assistant director of nursing. We also feature:
- A Restorative Program, which offers retraining in daily activities such as ambulation and social dining
- An Activities Program, which works to bring each resident to his or her highest level of function
- A Social Services Program, which serves the resident as well as family and friends
Each resident has an attending physician. Other staff includes:
- Registered Nurses
- Certified Licensed Practical Nurses
- Nursing Assistants
- Rehabilitation Therapists (providing PT, OT and SLT)
- Dietary Technician and Consulting Dietitian
- Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance Staff
- Administrative Staff (Admissions, Social Services, Case Management, and Business Office)
- Recreational Therapists and Activities Staff
Located on floors four through seven of the Center for Nursing Care is Amber Terrace, a licensed facility providing Assisted Living Care. Amber Terrace includes 34 well-appointed private and semi-private rooms.
